Does this mattress require a box spring, foundation, or a particular base?

A support system for your mattress is required. It is recommended to use the Helix Foundation to provide correct support and avoid sagging over time. If you prefer to use something different, it is recommended to use a bunkie board with a box spring, or any support system with a firm, flat surface and thick slats no wider than 5.5 inches apart, which can cause sagging and void your warranty.

Does the Plus mattress have any safety certifications?

The Plus mattress, like every Helix mattress, is assembled in their Arizona facility, allowing Helix to ensure the highest quality every single time. Firm but soft and supportive

"The bed is firm but soft which is what we wanted. I worry about the sides/edges, they are not firm providing edge support. I would like them firmer to maintain the bed's structural integrity. A strong perimeter reinforces and prevents the mattress from sagging, or collapsing. When weight is applied to the outer boundaries, which is critical for safety and comfort. So I guess time will tell. Our backs and hips are much happier, though, with this new mattress"

"I’m not sure how I feel. I’ve work up with a sore back a couple times and sweaty. I’ve also tossed and turned quite a bit and haven’t noticed a real improvement. So I’m not sure if the mattress is too firm"
